Running for Sheriff

This video explains that I'm running for the Office of Sheriff and the experience that qualifies me to serve.

What Does the Sheriff Office Do?

Daily operations involves, patrol, narcotics, investigations, court security, process service and corrections.

There is a difference between your local PD and HCSO

The Sheriff's Office serves all of the 60,000 citizens of Hawkins County and unlike city police departments, is responsible for more than just enforcing the law.

Getting Cameras Implemented

Due to the lack of past funding the Hawkins County Sheriff's Office had not implemented body or dash mounted cameras to document deputy interactions with the public. The Sheriff and I worked to obtain funding this year and we have recently implemented our first step in our phased approach to put this vital equipment into service.  Our initial step focused on patrol, but over the next couple of years we hope to include jail, courts and School Resource Officers to the mix.

A Tragic Case that Remains in Our Focus

Many people have asked what is the status of the Summer Wells disappearance case.  This is a case that all of us at the Sheriff's Office are touched by and we continue to run any lead that comes up. The fact is that we have very little physical evidence to go on and we are heavily dependent on the verbal statements of those that are close to the case. As has been demonstarted in the Nancy Guthery disappearance case, without physical evidence or a reliable witness to go on, it is hard to bring the case to conclusion.  As long as I am in charge we will never give up hope of finding Summer and will do everything in our power to find Summer and bring this case to an acceptable close for everyone.
